THE VISIONARY
Reverend Pastor Thomas C. Pettaway came to Hartford, Connecticut at the age of twenty. He is a native of Mobile, Alabama and has been the Pastor of Greater Faith Deliverance Church, Inc. since 1970. He was first educated in marketing at the Travelers Insurance Company via the Ebony Businessman Lodge where he began his professional career as a retailer after which he studied at the Hartford Seminary and the Teamer’s School of Religion and received his BTH BD in Religion. He became the Pastor of Greater Faith Deliverance Church, Inc. which originated under the covenant of St. John’s Full Gospel Deliverance Temple where services were held at a local union hall in Middletown, Connecticut with only two members. Over the years, membership has grown five hundred fold. He is an internationally known preacher, teacher and motivational speaker with a ministry that not only reaches the local community but also covers this country with partners as far as the Port of Spain.
Reverend Pastor Thomas C. Pettaway’s vision is a reflection of his benevolent heart “to help change the lives of people.” He is a gifted and anointed shepherd of God who continues to display good moral character, a sense of dedication and he has deep concern for God’s people. Under his leadership he has accomplished many things, such as, community advocate, instituting the free community breakfast program, annual Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to help feed the hungry and shut-in to name a few. In addition he was a catalyst on the War against Drugs and Violence movement, as well as a sponsor for the local schools in the area.
Pastor Pettaway’s vision expanded beyond the small church building that he and his members occupied for almost thirty years. A neighborhood plagued with drugs and crime became a real concern of this great man of God. He needed to meet the needs of the community and his congregation. For many years he searched for a suitable location to carry out God’s vision. God spoke to the heart of the man of God and the spirit of the Lord moved. The vision was made clear and it came to life. A ministry with a purpose! Changing the Lives of People - A nondenominational but Christ centered ministry. In 2002 Greater Faith Deliverance Church purchased the property located at 31 Prospect Avenue in the Town of West Hartford, Connecticut which has brought us to the ultimate mission to “Rise Up and Build”, (Nehemiah 3:17). The anointing of the Anointed One flows through Pastor Pettaway and consequently lives are being changed.
The Lord again spoke to the heart of Pastor Pettaway and once again, he has obeyed! The Lord Jesus Christ created a new path for him to carry out His work. On October 15, 2004, Pastor T.C. Pettaway became Apostle T.C. Pettaway. He is taking his post – holding on to the profession and is moving progressively forward with boldness – revealing the truth – preaching the Gospel and building up the body of Christ for a work of service.
